After our hike at Tioga Pass we left Yosemite NP and drove down to Mono Lake and Bodie. In 1859 W.S. Bodey found gold and more and more people rushed into that place they later called Bodie niedergelassen. In it’s heyday Bodie had a population of around 8000 , 60 saloons, a couple of brothels and opium dens in it’s chinatown. As the yield dropped people moved away and in 1962 Bodie was declared a California State Park to stop decay of the left-over and abandoned buildings. I only had one hour before the park closed for walking around and talking pictures because we arrived late afternoon, but the light was wonderful.
