Recently I visited Stuttgart’s Zoo “Wilhelma”. Armed with my Fuji X-T1, the telephoto lens XF55-200 mm and a monopod I went on “photo safari”.

Came out pretty disillusioned. While it’s great to see exotic animals up close but they are imprisoned and many show strange behavior. I was always torn between the educational character of a zoo, the merits of preservation of the species and the confinement of wild animals. After this visit of the Wilhelma the balance was clear on one side. I think that can be seen in the images.
